BBC News Look North – Bigclothing4u Live!

On 6th April 2023 Bigclothing4u collaborated with Katie Price on BBC Look North covering Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, presented by Peter Levy.

BBC News Look north wanted to report our founder Ben Pearson’s recent appearance on BBC Dragons Den, a nations favourite TV show aired on BBC One. Look North used part of the pitch to show on the program explaining how we agreed an offer of £150,000 for 35% of our company. They were keen to share news that Ben Pearson runs our company Bigclothing4u that sells clothes for “larger men and women in Scunthorpe” and Katie Price, “who’s one of the countries most famous women”. Katie price is a passionate campaigner against online abuse.

BBC News Look North’s reporter Jo Makel attended our warehouse premises in the morning of 6th April to film and report our business, taking an interview with Ben our managing Director. Ben explains to Jo his story, how he went from being homeless to businessman, spending his life in care homes from a very young age and completely misunderstood having autism. Ben explained how having Autism is not a bad thing as ‘everybody’ makes out, it is actually a hidden genius that simply need channelling into its correct path. Ben said “People only saw the reaction that his struggled got and not the reason why”. He spoke directly about how he got to where he is today “begged borrowed and steeled”, he planted a small seed, watered it every day and watched it grow. Ben also explained on camera how money can’t be taken with us, but a legacy can remain for years that pass!

Katie Price and Ben Pearson joined Peter Levy live on BBC Look North on the evening after joining Jo for the reporting. Peter was keen to understand how hard it was finding clothes and shopping when I was younger, he ask; “was it a real ordeal?!”. Ben said, how it was an absolute nightmare being nearly 30 stone and not being able to find clothes on the high street. Kate went on to explain how it was a nightmare getting clothes for Harvey too, she could never find waist sizes that were big enough, without the lengths being far too long…Katie even explained how she had to make his own clothes, but then she established the relationship with Ben, who filled the gap, as he provided clothing for the bigger guy…Kate was explaining how Ben and Harvey both have a back story and how incredible it is for both guys to work together on something so wonderful, they match perfectly. Katie Price mentioned briefly how the trolling effects our lives and how Ben supported them as he’s faced similar issues; Ben produced T-Shirts and collections to support the campaign. Ben was keen to explain how the law of attraction plays a part in becoming a “millionaire” and how he use to get trolled by the parents and family of carers while under the care of social services!
